MELAKA: Two local artistes who were conferred the Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) and DPSM (Kehormat) yesterday, which carries the title 'Datuk', are determined to further develop the nation's entertainment industry.

For actor, host, film and drama producer Mohamed Noor Shamsuddin, who is better known as Rosyam Nor, the DPSM will motivate him to work harder to produce better quality work.

"With this recognition, I need to work harder, not only for myself but to also contribute ideas to the industry. I will continue the fight," he told reporters at the investiture ceremony in conjunction with the Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob's 75th birthday.

Rosyam Nor said the title he received will not change him but instead encourage him to go further in the local entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, singer Ramli Sarip, who was the only one to be conferred the DPSM (Kehormat) said the award was meaningful to continue creating music and channeling material and information in his own way.

"I never imagined I would be awarded with such a title, I must thank the Melaka government for recognising our creative work," he said. — Bernama
