Balik Kampung & Dayang Nurfaizah @ Prince Hotel | missyblurkit

Day 2 of Ramadhan was spent at Prince Hotel breaking fast to a 'Balik Kampung' theme. A lavish buffet spread of kampung delights to put a smile to the face after a day of fasting. This time I had the honour of being able to break fast with some kids from Majlis Kebajikan Kanak-kanak and Dayang Nurfaizah.
Perhaps a little more challenging than other occasions is that we had in our company some deaf and mute kids. I confess that I quite hopeless in my sign language with only basic signs of how are you, what's your name and my alphabets. And even with the alphabets, I realised that I sign British while most folks know the American. Still it was good time as some understood me after all and we did have a good time breaking fast together!
With a nice setup of kampung house which was rather popular with the diners who wanted a picture n the kampung house, we also saw the use of batik and tiny details to give a traditional kampung feel to compliment the Balik Kampung theme. Adding to the festive feel is a traditional Ghazal band from Seri Nusantara II that will perform every night. The band consists of an accordion, acoustic guitar and Gendang.
Dinner was specialties from around Malaysia which includes kerabu pucuk paku, bubur lambok, beef rendang with lemang, rendang tok, nasi kandar, roti canai, udang goreng berlada, satay, ais kacang and more. Other than kampung dishes, the buffet line also includes chilled prawns and smoked salmon, kerabu and salads. Completing the buffet line includes freshly prepared Chinese, Indian and Western dishes. Desserts includes Malay kuih, ice creams, pastries and fresh fruits.
My faves were Eccucino's specialties of Signature Hot Pot Soup, whole roasted lamb kuzi, a Malaysian laksa stall featuring five different flavours of laksa. Not much food pics this time around as I was quite smitten with the kids and their beautiful smiles...
Kids having tonnes of fun with sand art.
Dayang Nurfaizah arrived very early and was helping out the kids with their sand art. She's really good with kids!
These boys have their own share of fun with the kampung house.
