You could also focus on the fact that while Yuna was born in the East, she was raised on the voices of strong Western women like Patti Smith, Alanis Morissette, Feist, Gwen Stefani, Tori Amos, and Fiona Apple, and like most modern artists she didn't wait for fortune to come knocking, but started self-releasing her music to the internet before being discovered. If you want you can look upon her as a symbol of hope and inspiration, a young female Muslim singer-songwriter naturally transcending any cultural tensions people might expect or perceive. The point is, however you look at Yuna there's something worth taking notice of, something unique, and holding it all together is music.
