During exams, you can temporarily restrict students from posting anything to the discussion forum, converting it into a read-only resource. In Advanced Settings, find the policy key called "discussion_blackouts" and enter the date and time range during which you want the discussion forum to be read-only. You'll need to use the following format: "yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm", "yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm" where the first date and time represents the start of the blackout period and the second represents when you want to re-open the discussion forum.
