Freestyle artist Sara likes communicating through art | Pakistan ... Posted: 25 Mar 2012 04:52 PM PDT KARACHI - Since her childhood, Sara Ali Hashmi knew how to tackle a pencil in sketching. Additionally, her power of observation is also good, which gives her an understanding to communicate with the outer world through this skill. When she was asked how she became an artist, she said that like Pablo Picasso, she also believes that everyone is born an artist. Explaining why she decided to become an artist, she said, "Scientifically, it has been proven that a picture has more impact on people, so I choose to represent my observations through this medium." Mainly, she added, she likes this way of communicating with people or showing people whatever she observes. Sara is a fine arts student with a Bachelor's degree in visual studies from the University of Karachi. Calling herself a freestyle artist, she is always practising drawing and painting. She said that her ideas and inspirations come from reading books, observing people and their surroundings, and discussions. Whatever she absorbs, she likes to show it to others and always feels a sense of relief by telling it to them. She likes to write in her spare time. She prefers reading books by Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Munshi Premchand, Saadat Hasan Manto, Arundhati Roy, Bapsi Sidhwa, JD Salinger and Paulo Coelho. "I love music because it's a source of relaxation for me," she said. Sara enjoys painting subjects of nature, especially landscapes and faces with wrinkles. All her artworks are special to her, as each has a different concept and idea behind it. To novice artists, she advises recognising their abilities, and terms hard work as the key to success. |
