Neelofa: See you in court, Anzalna

As we predicted, the catfight between rising starlets Neelofa and Anzalna took an explosive turn yesterday when lawyers got involved.

Having had enough of Anzalna's allegations and statements to the press, Neelofa—the Dewi Remaja 2010 winner and leading actress in the dramatic movie Azura—has called on her legal eagles to whoop Anzalna's you-know-what.

Anzalna, who was also in Dewi Remaja but lost, had accused Neelofa of insulting her family and setting up a Faceook page called "Kami Benci Anzalna". (Daily Chilli was unable to find the page on Facebook or a screen capture of the page on Google.)

"Everything she says is 100% false," Neelofa, 23, told a packed press conference yesterday. "She has to show proof of her accusations. For instance, show proof that I actually set up such a site."

Flanked by her attorneys from the law firm of Ahmad Hidayat Md Nor & Co, she announced that she was sending out a Notice Of Demand to Anzalna, 24, to provide evidence that she actually did those dastardly deeds.

Anzalna, who'll be playing the heroine in the upcoming movie Sepah, now has seven days to show proof that Neelofa was behaving like a villain. And if Anzalna fails to back up her claims, then Neelofa has promised to throw the full weight of the law against Anzalna.

Neelofa wouldn't get specific about what her next step could be, but she didn't rule out filing a defamation suit against Anzalna and even demanding for a public apology.

Her attorney, Ahmad Hidayat, said that a defamation case could take around nine months to get to trial, but it could also result in anything from a RM200,000 payout to RM1mil in damages. Neelofa, however, did hint that she would consider settling the matter out of court.

Ahmad has had 12 years of experience as a session court judge and magistrate. He's dealt with litigation and criminal cases before, but this would be his first defamation suit and his most high-profile case. However, he's not concerned about the celebrity nature of the case.

Neelofa and Anzalna met for the first time during the Dewi Remaja reality show. Word through the grapevine is there were major smackdowns brewing throughout the competition. According to Anzalna, during the pageant Neelofa had threatened her if she were to win the title.

The war between Neelofa and Anzalna isn't Neelofa's only battle. In April, she lost the Anugerah Bintang Popular award for Best New Artiste to 25-year-old actress Tasha Shilla. Far from being the gracious loser, Neelofa reportedly tweeted that her rival didn't deserve to win. Obviously perturbed, Tasha struck back through the media to refute Neelofa's claim.

When Daily Chilli contacted Anzalna and Tasha, neither women had any comment. As for chances of reconciliation after all this is over, forget about it. "We've seen each other but it's more like, 'Hi hi, bye bye," said Neelofa.

Meanwhile, we're still holding out for them to settle this drama in a mud fight.
