Newcastle United target Andre Pierre Gignac has been offered to various Premier League clubs (including the Magpies) by Marseille according to L'Equipe.

The French giants are looking to cash in on the French striker after Newcastle's representatives approached the Ligue 1 side over the availability of the 27 year-old.

Gignac managed 18 goals last season, in 37 games – a huge improvement on his 2 goals from 27 games the year before.

Despite noone submitting an official offer, Olympique Marseille are already assessing other options, with Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis as their number one priority.

The French forward bagged an impressive 18 goals last season, in just 33 starts for his side. Gomis, like Gignac, has also come onto the radar of Graham Carr and his scouting team. Newcastle enquired over the availability of the French Drogba, but did not follow up their interest for an unknown reason.

If Marseille do bring Gomis to the Stade Velodrome, he will be the fourth arrival of the summer following the recent arrivals of Payet, Mendy and the highly rated Imbula.

Imbula is a 20 year-old Belgian born French Under 21 international who won promotion with Guingamp last season, before leaving to join Marseille.

"OM and Guingamp through their presidents, have reached an agreement for the transfer of Gianelli Imbula, subject to the successfully passing the medical examination and therefore the actual signing of the player's contract with Marseille."

Despite interest from Barcelona, it appears French midfielder Valbuena is set to stay at the club too as he has no intentions of being the Spanish sides last choice central midfielder.
