Kim <b>Yuna</b> is 6th Richest Female Athlete in the World - KoreAm Journal Posted: 07 Aug 2013 01:54 PM PDT South Korean figure skating superstar Kim Yuna is the sixth richest female athlete in the world, according to a recent list compiled by Forbes magazine. Kim's earnings since June of last year came in at an estimated $14 million, placing her behind the likes of tennis stars Mario Sharapova and Serena Williams, who were first and second on the list with earnings of $29 and $20.5 million, respectively. Kim's No. 6 ranking bumps her up one slot from last year's list, when she was estimated to have earned $9 million. Third on the list was Li Na, the Chinese tennis player, with $18.2 million. She was followed by Belarus' Victoria Azarenka with $15.7 million, while American race car driver Danica Patrick placed just ahead of Kim with $15 million. "[Kim] is a staple on TV in South Korea thanks to commercials for her dozen sponsors including Samsung Electronics, Korean Air and KB Financial," Forbes reported. Kim will start the 2013-14 figure skating season at Skate Canada in October.
