With the start of the 20th century, many have stepped up, to the plate to champion the rights of women around the world. What began as a struggle against the right to vote, employment equality and even the right to hold public office eventually gave women around the world a voice to stand up for equality. Since then, the International Women's Day has been a toast for the respect, appreciation and love that they have earned and well as to acknowledge their achievements in economic, social and even political triumphs. This year Garang Pictures & Big Eyes Entertainment through WOMEN:girls bring to our audience, women's stories through a series of short films. With the theme 'The Gender Agenda: Gaining Momentum', IKAL MAYANG is a collection of 15-short films made by non-traditional directors in Malaysia. Today on Arts Unplugged, Adrian Seet talks to SOFEA JANE, Vanidah Imran, Sharifah Aleysha about their experience of being part of IKAL MAYANG. |
