Imagine living in a world where women can pay their way through college by simply going out on dates with men; no sex, no creepy touchy-feely nonsense, just a friendly conversation over some coffee and whatever else she pleases.
Sound too good to be true, ladies? Think again.
Seeking Arrangement has made it possible for all females, and some males, to pay their way through college by becoming "sugar babies" and going out on dates with "sugar daddies" or "sugar mommas" for the exchange of money.
I thought it was a bunch of malarkey when I first heard about it, but I was so intrigued by the concept that I looked deeper into it.
In an article by KVUE Texas News, a 20-year-old college student named Ari, whose last name was left out of the article, claimed that with the help from her sugar daddy, she enrolled full time at Austin Community College.
Becoming a sugar baby is a growing trend in Texas and Arizona.
Ari said that when her sugar daddy would fly in, they would hang out and he would give her $300 here and there, and eventually gave her more money the more often they hung out.
"I'm a virgin, we're not doing anything sexual," Ari claimed in the KVUE article.
In the article, Leroy Velasquez, public relations manager at SeekingArrangements.com, claimed that Seeking Arrangement is the world's largest sugar daddy dating website with a heaping 10.8 million college students on the site.
A majority of people most likely believe that sugar babies are having sex with sugar daddies for money and it is not a mere hangout. I decided that there is only one way to find out how these dates play out; I recently registered for a free account and am now an official sugar baby.
I've been a member for a couple weeks and have received "winks" and "favorites" by a few members of the site. A majority of these men are in their late 20s and early 30s, and one man is even married. The messages I received are basically all the same: "You seem really cool, lets hangout," or "We have so much in common, lets get to know each other."
With creepy descriptions sugar daddies post such as "Professional guy seeking a fun playmate" and "I'm the boss, you're the applesauce," it is difficult to choose which guy to go on a date with. Me being the picky person I am also makes the decision making process complicated, especially when a majority of these sugar daddies are middle aged, lonely mediocre men hoping to hop in the pants of a broke and desperate college girl.
Seeking Arrangement has strict guidelines and all members have to be approved and verified. It is stated on every members profile whether or not they are verified. The website also warns members that unverified members may not be who they say there are. These type of precautions make this experiment less frightening and more exciting.
After telling a few friends this, I've received an array of responses from shock and disgust to concern. Honesty, I'd rather find out what really happens by going out on dates as opposed to reading testaments from other users, so stay tuned for a wild roller coaster of sugar baby adventures.
