Matthew Broderick fuels Ferris Bueller sequel rumours with ... Posted: 27 Jan 2012 04:47 AM PST The ten-second teaser, which is doing the rounds on YouTube, sees Broderick recreate the opening scene from the 1986 film, in which he played a high school kid who goes to extreme lengths to get a day off school. In this instance, however, the now 49-year-old actor is seen in a hotel room wearing a white bath robe, as he pulls back the curtains and utters the line, 'How can I handle work on a day like today?', an update of the opening line from the film in which he questions being able to go to school. A song from the original soundtrack - Oh Yeah by the band Yello - then plays in the background as the date 5.2.2012 flashes up on screen. Despite the fact that little is given away by the clip - which is thought to be a teaser for an advert to be screened during the Superbowl - it has led to speculation on Twitter and other websites that Broderick is about to reprise the role for a sequel. The film, which was directed by the late John Hughes, was one of the biggest hits of 1986. Its co-stars included Alan Ruck as Ferris Bueller's troubled best friend and Mia Sara as his girlfriend, and also included early appearances from Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey. Broderick - who is married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker - went on to star in films including Godzilla, The Cable Guy, Election and Inspector Gadget as well as appearing in the award-winning stage version of Mel Brooks' The Producers. More recently he was seen in New Year's Eve and Tower Heist. VIDEO: Watch Matthew Broderick reprise the role of Ferris Bueller Full content generated by Get Full RSS. |
