SYAMSUL Yusof has emerged from the ashes and has come forward to give his statement after a month of recluse from the public eye over the piracy scandal of his latest film, KL Gangster 2.

Dismissing claims that he had let his father Datuk Yusof Hasalam to take on the battle of what would be the worst digital infringement in the country alone, he spoke to Berita Harian today: "There is no such thing as me putting sole responsibility on my father's shoulders after what had happened to my film."

"Though on the surface my job was done and dusted after the film had wrapped,I feel entitled to make sure that KL Gangster 2 receive commercial success," he added.

He also says that he is deeply involved in all aspects of the film alongside his producer and promotional team.

The 30-year-old further explained, "I keep myself updated on the current flow of the industry, especially news on my movie that had unfortunately been a prey of these irresponsible 'parasites'.

"Meanwhile, I've made effort to show up to the promotional legs of KL Gangster 2 with its casts, just without any media fanfare."

Admitting that his father is the only one who understood what he goes through during this difficult time, the acclaimed director said that he is much more secured on accrediting Datuk Yusof Haslam as one of the producers to give appropriate statements on the calamitous event that has plagued his latest screen offering.

"He perfectly comprehends the struggle I face. And his statements resonate with the ones I have in mind anyway,so I'll let him do the talking," elaborates Syamsul.
