The Phantom Returns | Vision KL - Your City Lifestyle Guide (Kuala ... Posted: 27 May 2012 08:01 PM PDT A dinner-concert like no other awaits guests at the JW Marriot Hotel
With a powerful haunting voice and a charismatic stage presence that is rarely seen, Ramin Karimloo cuts a striking figure. His talents earned him the lead role in the highest-grossing and most successful theatrical show in history, the Phantom of the Opera. Moreover, he reprised the role in the sequel Love Never Dies in 2010, for which he subsequently won a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical. The 33-year-old Iranian-born Canadian will now, once again, wow audiences at a night dubbed An Evening With The Phantom, at the JW Marriot Hotel from the 21 to 22 June. Karimloo's resume reads like a best of West End musicals, having appeared in Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Pirates of Penzance alongside his headlining performance in Phantom. Malaysian audiences had the privilege of catching him live in last year's West End Stars concert, where he shared the stage with Simon Bailey and Stephen Rahman Hughes for a night of cherished classics. Joining him on stage for part of the upcoming concert will be renowned Australian opera singer Annalisa Kerrigan. The Malaysian/Irish artist has been described as possessing the voice of an angel and has left audiences in Europe, Asia and Australia in awe with her lush vocals. One of the highlights of the upcoming show will be her duet with Karimloo as the Phantom's love interest Christine. The chemistry between the two will surely send shivers down spines. Organisers of the show, Enfiniti Vision Media, are no strangers to the world of extravagant events, having put on last year's West End Stars as well as Puteri Gunung Ledang the Musical and P Ramlee the Musical in the past. Executive Producer Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina and show director Joanna Bessey are leaving no stone unturned and plan to transform the ballroom of the JW Marriot into an Opera House reminiscent of Paris during la belle époque (the period during which the original book of the musical, Le Fantome de L'opera by Gaston Leroux was first published), immersing guests in the grandeur and opulence of the era, complimenting the glamorous music that will be drifting from the stage. Commenting on the show, Datin Seri Tiara said "This is what Enfiniti Vision Media does…providing high quality entertainment for lovers of performing arts and fans of musical theatre in Malaysia." The glitterati of KL are expected to turn up to the lavish dinner-concert, which will include four courses of sumptuous food. You can experience an unparalleled evening of dining and drama for RM1,000, just make sure you come dressed in your finest black tie or evening gown. Get your tickets at www.tickethotline.com.my or call 03 7725 1177 to book. For opera fans, it doesn't get any better than this, having a West End star who played the lead role in the most famous musical in history croon away on stage, and even if you never acquired a taste for the dramatic art form, a unique evening such as one with the phantom doesn't happen often and makes for a fantastic departure from a normal night out. Let yourself be swept up in the grandeur, and be transported to another time and place for an unforgettable evening. An Evening With the Phantom |
