The West End Men are coming to Guernsey (28th & 29th July) | GBG ...

THREE internationally-renowned musical theatre singers, The West End Men, will be performing in Guernsey this coming July.

The singers, Lee Mead, Matt Rawle and Stephen Rahman-Hughes, will be performing in the Sir John Loveridge Hall, Beau Sejour on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July. The show, produced by Milton Morrissey Ltd, is one that breaks the mould and it is a great coup that a Guernsey audience will get to experience talent of this calibre.

"It's a musical theatre concert – but not as we know it: it's dynamic, it's sharp, it's sexy and it features the finest performers of a generation," said Paul Morrissey, of Milton Morrissey Productions.

"It is a production driven by astonishing voices and formidable musicianship. The handpicked, internationally-renowned cast have played leading roles on both sides of the Atlantic and are quite simply as good as it gets," he said.

Charismatic and fiercely talented, the men will present a selection of signature numbers from some of their most famous roles together with a carefully chosen collection of some of the best known show tunes. Lee was already a West End performer when he won Any Dream Will Do, the BBC's search for a lead for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

His acclaimed leading performance as Joseph created an enormous following which he has consolidated in such roles as Fiyero in Wicked and Emmett in Legally Blonde – together with solo concert tours and album releases.

Matt started his career playing the title role in the original production of Martin Guerre and has gone on to appear in an enormous range of major musicals including Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Aspects of Love and most recently the lauded revival of Evita in which he played Che.

Stephen trained initially as a dancer at Rambert before discovering his voice and landing a leading role in West Side Story. He went on to play the lead in the Lloyd Webber produced musical Bombay Dreams amongst many other roles, which led to being selected as a founder member of Sony BMG's group Teatro.

The West End Men will be supported by special guest Kerry Ellis. Kerry is fast becoming the first woman of British musical theatre. She created the role of Meat in We Will Rock You and went on to play the lead in a number of West End musicals before landing the role of Elphaba in the original London cast of Wicked – a role that she went on to play on Broadway. She has released three albums and recently toured with Brian May with the show Anthems.

The West End Men production is brought to the stage by renowned director Mitch Sebastian. Mitch, recently described by Time Out as being "the future of British Musical Theatre" has received acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic for a body of work that includes the phenomenally successful Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas, which has enjoyed numerous runs in the West End and across the world. Milton Morrissey is returning to the Channel Islands, following hugely successful productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat starring Chesney Hawkes, as well as Les Miserables in Concert, Cats and Buddy.

The company was formed by creative producers Guernseyman Paul Morrissey and James Milton in 2006 to create first class theatre in the West End and on national and international tours. Other work includes a major revival of Howard Goodall's Days of Hope. They were also associate producers on Caroline O'Connor: The Showgirl Within at the West End's Garrick Theatre and are currently developing a major revival of Raymond Brigg's When the Wind Blows and the off-Broadway play White's Lies. They are the former recipients of the Society of London Theatre's prestigious Stage One Bursary for New Producers.

The performances will take place at 7.45 p.m. on both 28 and 29 July and tickets can be purchased at www.guernseytickets.gg, by calling the box office on 01481 747200 or at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre.
