Marseille Striker Andre-Pierre-Gignac Reluctant To Move To ... Posted: 30 Jun 2013 01:51 AM PDT Newcastle reportedly bid £12 million for the Marseille striker. Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts Marseille striker Andre-Pierre-Gignac is stalling on a possible move to Newcastle United, amid rumours that a bigger club may come in for him, Sports Direct News reports. Alan Pardew's side made a £12 million bid for the striker and were hopeful that they could sign the French frontman this summer following encouraging early signs. Although reports say Gignac hasn't ruled out a move to St James's Park, he is waiting to see if a bigger club make a move for him, feeling that he would like to be at a club with more chance of winning trophies. This stance from Gignac has made Newcastle question whether they actually want to sign the striker and the club are now looking at alternatives to bring in if Gignac continues to stall. The Magpies have been linked with Aston Villa striker Darren Bent but the club are reluctant to pay Villa's asking price for the striker which is £6 million. Newcastle don't normally sign players who have no sell on value but Alan Pardew may make a exception for such a proven goal scorer. St Etienne's Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang is another alternative and could be available for £15 million. |
