'Haq' Movie Review | Film In Asian Posted: 27 Feb 2012 12:35 AM PST Malaysian movie starring Raja Farah, Nanu Baharudin, Zul Huzaimy, Adi Putra and directed by Jumaatun Azmi and C.L. Hor. A film about two brothers Haq (Zul Huzaimy) and Bad (Adi Putra), both gifted with special powers. Bad, however grew within him jealousy and hatred for Haq. He nurtures this power to turn it against Haq. It is up to Haq to defend and stop Bad in bringing harm to his love ones. An action packed film with a pinch of drama involving family values and relationships. With jealousy as the root cause, later on turning into hate, Bad succumbs into the evil side to bring destruction to Haq. With Bad leaving his family at a very young age, the story jumps into showing him as an adult, makes me wonder how he survived, moreover getting well known in the drug industry. Well, that perfectly explains his new found wealth and power. The actions scenes were well executed, not exactly flawless but well choreographed, however some question still arises. It was told that Haq got his power as a gift, as for Bad, nobody knows where he got his. In addition, there were scenes of Bad having nightmares and an encounter with a devilish voice, but it was just left at that. Actually the only clue as to what power they have is, it is often seen when they engage into fight scenes, some kind of light energy emerges from their hands, forcing the enemies to be thrown miles away, super strength? That's basically it. Well, when they were but young boys, Haq demonstrated that he can control the leaves floating in the air. It's rather kind of confusing though. Introjections of the glowing balls into the scene were not appropriate as to what it symbolizes. Some sort of marking for every evil deed done? If the movies intention is to bring an ultimate action film, it certainly did not succeed based on the final fight scene, as it lacked impact and climax an action buff is waiting for. Providing the effects on their so called "powers" did not suffice for the much awaited battle. Acting wise, the actors lacked the proper motivation of how action stars should be portrayed. Bad as the villain thought he could get away with the "evil laugh", the womanizing effect and that all black outfit. The women however fared better than the lead stars in terms of acting. |
