When stars Panik | Malaysian Daily News Posted: 26 Dec 2012 11:58 PM PST Posted by NeffYoung on December 27th, 2012 FANS will be able to see eight local celebrities freaking out when subjected to nerve-racking challenges in the face of spine-tingling supernatural experiences in the six-episode gameshow, Panik . This new show on ntv7 is shot entirely at night between 11pm and 4am using infra-red camcorders at some of the most secluded and 'haunted' areas in the country, including the War Museum in Penang, Kellie's Castle in Perak, and Bukit Cahaya in Shah Alam. The celebrities are Ezany Nizariff, Danny X Factor, Melia Aimelia, Ika Nabila, Marlon VIP, Anis Al Idrus, Jufry Rayyan William and Shakilla Khoriri with KL Gangster actor Ridzuan Hashim making his debut as host. Divided into two teams of two females and males each, each team will compete against the other to complete certain tasks in the shortest time – all done in the dark. Aeizul Reeza Ismail, producer of Panik , said that their experience in filming the paranormal series, Seekers , came in useful for shooting this show in the dark. Director Zafran Abdul Hamid (better known as Aziz) said: "We combined elements from Seekers with Amazing Race and Fear Factor style of challenges to create Panik. " Audiences can expect excitement, drama and intensity . One of the challenges will see how the teams work together to break a secret code and free one of their teammates from a tank filled with rising water and live eels. "What makes Panik different from other shows like Fear Factor is that it goes beyond just pure fear," said ntv7 Brand Management Group manager Andrea Chong. "The show stirs up an individual's emotions with the challenges which consist of a mixture of supernatural, obstacle courses, problem-solving, and others." Contestant Anis revealed that she has always been afraid of the dark but her fear didn't stop her from going through the challenge till the end. Some of the contestants also claimed to have come face to face with supernatural apparitions. Marlon said he saw silhouettes of headless apparitions in old army uniforms on the set while filming at the War Museum in Penang. The gameshow comes with a cash reward of RM10,000 in all. In the fourth episode, the winning team will be presented with RM2,000 as a reward before the contestants are reshuffled to form two new teams. But this time, only one contestant will walk away with the remaining RM8,000 cash at the finale. Panik will air beginning Jan 2 every Wednesday night at 8.30pm on ntv7. See more here: |
