Saiful Apek, our local well known celebrity with three other friends, including a woman has tested positive for drug through urine screening tests after being detained in an operation two years ago.

Sergeant M Sanggar, 48 the police officer who conducting the screening test certified the matter who led a raid on condominiums in Bandar Sunway at 10 pm, June 12, 2010.

According to the testing of urine samples that day, it was made on each of the suspect by inserting the test sticks to detect the presence of THC in urine.

Saiful Apek and the three co-accused pleaded not guilty to consuming cannabis last November 1.

They were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. If convicted they may be jailed for two years or fined RM5,000.

PETALING JAYA (Feb 14, 2012): A policeman told the Magistrate's Court here today that urine tests on popular comedian Mohd Saifulazam Mohd Yusoff, 42, better known as Saiful Apek, and three of his friends were positive.

Sgt M. Sanggar, 48, said he conducted urine tests on all the four accused – Shah Zainatull Ehsan Al-Muazam Shah Yahya, 28, Shaiful Baharom, 24, Noremy Mohamad, 28, and Saiful Apek – after raiding a house in Bandar Sunway near here.

"Urine tests on the four found them positive for drugs," said the second prosecution witness when questioned by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Ishrakh Saad during examination in chief.

Sanggar from the Subang Jaya Police Headquarters Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department said he then handed the urine samples to Investigating Officer Insp Rozlia Razali for further action.

On Nov 1 last year, Saiful Apek and three friends, including a woman pleaded not guilty to consuming cannabis.

All the accused were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and are punishable under Section 15(1) of the same act which carries up to two years in prison or a maximum fine of RM5,000.

Earlier, Intelligence Officer Chief Insp Mohd Shaifuddin Zulkifli, 31, who led the 10pm operation on June 12, 2010, also stated that their team found ganja in the house.

"In the raid I also arrested three men and a woman who were then sent to the Subang Jaya Police Headquarters," he said adding that he later directed Sanggar and Rozlia to carry out urine tests on the accused.

"I received their urine samples from Rozlia at 11.15pm and at 12.05am (June 13, 2010) I gave the bottles of specimen to the narcotics case investigating officer, Insp Syed Mohd Rohayat Syed Ramlee.

The four accused are represented by counsels Zambri Idrus and Mohd Fadli Hashim.

The hearing before Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid resumes on March 27. — Bernama
