Kim Yuna, Like a Lot of You, Thinks the Sochi Judging Was 'Absurd ...

Kim's performed this triple lutz during the Olympics.

On Tuesday, the greatest skater of her generation broke her silence about the fishy Olympic ladies figure skating competition. "It was all very absurd but I was just happy that it was all finished," Kim Yu-na told legions of fans at a Seoul shopping mall. She confirmed what many people, including the 2 million who signed an online petition and figure skating greats like Katarina Witt and Kurt Browning, felt: the judging was absolutely puzzling.

In the days since Russia's Adelina Sotnikova won the Olympic gold medal, many in the skating world has been trying to cobble together some kind of explanation as to how an imperfect, maybe even immature skate won gold over two flawless, and what experts felt were choreographically-superior programs from Kim, and Italy's Carolina Kostner.

Some of that turned into outrage and manifested itself in an online petition asking the International Skating Union to investigate the results. The International Skating Union has responded by removing its contact e-mail from its website and monitoring, deleting comments from, and screening its Facebook page.

Though there are many people upset with the ISU, Kim is not holding any grudges. "I have never gone over the result and thought what might have been," Kim is quoted as saying by South Korea's Yonhap news agency. "I am just happy to be away from the pressure and stress of competitions. I really don't know anything beside figure skating, and I think I will be doing something related to it," she added.
